At Spectrum Behavioral Health Group Tulsa, we are dedicated to providing ethically sound and research based services to individuals who struggle with challenging behaviors and the caregivers who support them. Typically these individuals have been overlooked by society and traditional counseling services and passed on from placement to placement. They are labeled as “difficult” and appropriate care is hard to find. They may have been diagnosed with a mental illness + an intellectual disability + experienced childhood trauma. Traditional behavior services do not account for all three of these issues, plus the ongoing trauma of living in state custody.
Spectrum BHG Tulsa utilizes the Family Training Contract with the OK Department of Human Services, DDS division, providing direct client care to these children and adults who exhibit challenging behaviors of all types. Our goal is to assist the individual and the placement provider with the best services and training so that placements are successful, lives are lived to the fullest and integrity in all areas is rewarded and honored.
Our program began in October 2016 when CEO Harriet Bohanan determined to start a company serving this population with a standard of ethics and care to those that traditional programs label “untreatable”. Currently Spectrum BHG Tulsa serves clients in Area II of the DDS map, east of I-35 and north of I-40. Our trainers go to the individual homes and provide services to both client and agency staff in the home. Trainers provide in-depth functional assessments, data-driven behavior plans, consultation and support for all team members and training as needed. This portion of the Spectrum program works with clients who have been approved for the wavered services through the DDS division of The OK Department of Human Services.
